Question:
Please can you help? I am studying my family history and as I have a readers ticket for on line searching the NLW digital copies of the Western Mail Cardiff I can only find copies up to 1900
and would like to search the newspaper copies for post 1900. Can you advise me if these are available and where I may find them on line as I live in Cardiff and it's rather a long journey to Aberystwyth.
Yours sincerely,
Edward Billinghurst. edroybill@googlemail.com

Answer:
The Western Mail was scanned under a 19th century newspapers project and so, unfortunately, this wonderful resource is only available for 12 years. At the mooment it is not available in any digital form for the twentieth century ( is is digital from 2000 onwards ). However, you do not need to consult the paper in Aberystwyth, as it is available to be consulted free of charge in the new Cardiff Library. The paper is on microfilm there.
