Hi I was editor of the UCW Aberystwyth Courier newspaper in 1967. I was editorially responsible for the infamous article published in response to the news that HRH Prince Charles would be attending Aberystwyth Uni. to learn Welsh in preparation for his investiture in 1969. Would your Library have a copy of that edition (Nov/Dec)? Many thanks My email is treforysboy@hotmail.com Diolch yn fawr Bydded y nerth gyda thi. Hugh David Morgan Hugh Morgan

I am tracing my family history and have come to a halt with my ancestor, George Bartley Cooke. Can you assist with some information such as birth certificate, immigration papers? Details I have of George B Cooke are that he was born in 1838 in the UK, mariner by occupation, immigrated to Australia by himself, he married in Australia on 12/11/1860, his father may have been named Richard Cooke. I would appreciate any possible information available, which can be forwarded to me by email on brettmcguinness@optusnet.com.au Thanks Brett McGuinness

I am contacting you from PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations). We have just produced a colour, bilingual leaflet promoting the Powys Volunteer Centre, and a bilngual colour youth volunteering handbook for young people to consider volunteering. Both publications feature phographs of volunteering case studies, local contact details (PAVO and 12 Volunteer Bureaux)the type of support PVC can provide and link to the national volunteering website. Please can you advise on how these could be distributed to local town and mobile libraries. hayley beavan

What is Ask Cymru?

We have a team of over 50 trained librarians and information professionals who have direct access to the resources of university, public and college libraries throughout Wales. Whatever the subject of your enquiry, our team will come up with an answer or guide you to other sources of information that will help you.

Public, university and college libraries throughout Wales along with the National Library of Wales work together to provide the Ask Cymru service. When you e-mail your question it is automatically routed to one of the participating libraries. Using their skill and experience the librarians will search the resources available to them - electronic and print - to find the answer. They will then send you an e-mail responding to your question within 48 hours.

We welcome questions from schoolchildren and university lecturers; from crossword solvers and research students. Because Ask Cymru is a Welsh service, we are especially equipped to answer questions about Wales and things Welsh. However, our resources cover the whole range of knowledge and we will be pleased to answer questions on any subject.
